Weekend getaway

I am choosing to blog about the fantastic weekend that we had with friends instead of the 45 minute temper tantrum that Madeline had today when I turned off Snow White, packed up to go to Target and then told her that we couldn't go to Target in Daddy's truck because Daddy took his truck to work. In the end she didn't get to watch more Snow White and I didn't get to go to Target. This may have been a lose-lose situation. And she's only two. Lord, help me.

BUT, this weekend rocked. We headed to Kansas City to hang out with our dear friends, the Swansons. It's so fun to go visit good friends. The kind of friends where their house feels like your house -- you don't have to ask for a Diet Dr. Pepper, you just help yourself. It's also amazing that God has blessed us with two spunky little gals who love to play together.

Some of my favorite moments from the weekend:

Watching our two girls play together. Swim together. Bathe together. Eat together. They did it all this weekend.

Brian saying that he's "never had a blogger stay at his house before". Wow. I never really considered myself a blogger. Just someone with a random blog. So, here's a blog shout-out to Brian. :)

Darrin letting out an enthusiastic gasp followed by: "You have Limoncello!"

Laughing about fun times that we had on our 30th birthday day trip to NYC last year. The Chinatown backroom purse-shopping incident, good food in Chelsea, and BAD food in Chinatown.

A sermon at church that seemed to speak right to me.

And the fact that Madeline is an AMAZING little traveler. She handles car rides so well and pretty much entertains herself. We are so lucky.

It was a GREAT weekend. Thanks, Swansons.

  1. Glad your trip to the Swanson's was so enjoyable. Next time if you need to go to Target see if Madeline wants to trade and watch Clifford and bring her to Gma's.

  2. Oh my goodness, we loved having you guys come to visit!! It was a blast for us as well, and we just adore all of 3 of you so much! It felt like the weekend was too short, though. I'm glad we have the UNI homecoming on the calendar...something to look forward to! More memories to make!
