Watch James Grow: Two weeks

The little mister is doing well.

At his two week visit today he was up to 8lbs 8oz and still 21 inches long.  The kiddo is doing well.

He likes to eat.  He's pretty predictable -- eating every 2-3 hours during the day and every 4ish hours at night.  James is also usually a pretty good sleeper.  The times that he has trouble going back to sleep only one thing will tucker him out....more food.  I fear what our grocery bill might look like during the teen years.

The transition from two children to three has gone remarkably well.  Better than I imagined.  There are calm moments where it all seems so normal.  Like we've always had three children.  And there are crazy moments with a tired or hungry newborn, a toddler that needs help with the potty and a kindergartener who wants some extra mom time.  I have pictures of the calm times.....shockingly NO pictures of the crazy times.  But believe me, they exist.

During his first bath at home James surprised us with a big poo explosion.  We've bathed the girls hundreds of time and never had a poop in the tub.  James had one bath and he produced.

James and Audrey have been blessing me with simultaneous afternoon naps.  Most days I get about an hour or more of quiet time while they are both sleeping.  It's almost too good to be true...

Life outside of newborn world was hectic last week.  A dear friend of my mom's (and my 8th grade teacher) passed away unexpectedly and Papa is recovering in the hospital from a heart attack.  James {and the girls} did well while I went to the funeral visitation and spent some time at the hospital.  He even took his first bottle from Granny and Grandpa -- a little surprised at the new delivery method of food, but he was happy to drink it up.  I am looking forward to UN-eventful weeks in the future!

There's a late summer heat wave this week.  Temps in the high 90s all week.  Yikes!

Our friends and family have been so generous with food and gifts for little James.  We've been eating meals prepped by neighbors, friends, family and even our doula the last two weeks.  It's all been delicious and SO appreciated!  The meals are great and the leftovers make lunch easy, too.  The girls have spent time hanging out with grandparents and Dad a lot while we've had Back to School night, Meet the Teacher night, birthday parties, and unexpected bumps in the road.  It really takes a village.

A bit of a sporadic post, but if I don't write it down I'm bound to forget it!

Dreaming of uninterrupted sleep and slightly cooler temps...
