games we played today

Mom says...

Objective: Keep hungry/tired children occupied in the car.

Directions: Mom says ridiculous things and children do them. "Touch your nose if your name is Audrey. Smile if you like French fries. Raise your hand if you like pink. Touch your knee if you can hear me." Why does this game work? I have no idea. But I don't question it.

Library

Objective: Fifteen minutes of quiet, cheerful play.

Directions: Place blanket over chair to create a "library". Tell children to read books quietly in the library. Again, I don't question why this works. But it worked like a charm for fifteen silent minutes today.

Firefighter James

Objective: Tummy time for James without his sisters in this face.

Directions: Place baby on tummy on blanket. Tell sisters that the blanket is a fire and James is the firefighter. Tell them they may not touch the fire, but they need to help firefighter James. Give directions like drive your fire truck, put up the ladder, or spray your hose. Act it out. Always end with "take a quiet nap in your firehouse bed".
