So many thoughts floating in my head. So little time to write them down.
This little guy is 18 months old. Some highlights to remember...
James is a climber. The other day I looked up from doing dishes and he was standing on the middle of the kitchen table. He can also climb onto the couch, over the back, and sit himself on the sofa table. Yesterday he did a very graceful somersault off of the ottoman in his room. He landed, looked up, and smiled as an enthusiastic Audrey cheered him on, "That was so COOL, James!"
He's a man of few words, but does not lack in communication. Pointing and grunting gets him most anything he wants. Especially from Madeline who is particularly sweet on the boy. Yet I'm lacking in any recent pictures of the two of them together!
James' face lights up when we get Madeline from school. He walks over to pictures of the girls and proudly proclaims, "Sis! Sissss!"
New favorites include playing with puzzles and play dough.
He climbs on the bench in his sister's bathroom daily and begs for hairstyling. He's especially insistent about the use of their strawberry detangler spray.
I cannot bring myself to cut off his adorable curls.
He loves waking Audrey up from naps. I put him on her bed and he crawls over to pat her on the back. Such sweet snuggles.
He likes to close doors. And can open some. He unrolls toilet paper and empties kleenex boxes. He loves markers and anything else that makes a mess. He knows how to open child locked cabinets. And he's been known to "help" around the house by throwing things away. Last week we found a pair of pajamas and a vase in the garbage.
Although it's not recommended, he's in a front facing carseat in the CR-V. Heck, when Madeline was a baby it was okay to turn them around at age one and 19 pounds...he far surpasses that requirement. For the rare occasions that we're not in the family truckster, he LOVES it.
When it's just me and James at home, he is so happy to walk laps around the house as I do little tasks. He moves constantly.
We have to play trucks before naptime. Every day. No matter what. And, yes, his trucks are stored in a pink tub.
He still goes to bed at 7pm every day. And sleeps about 12 hours. It's awesome. I'm sure as more daylight approaches this spring/summer, we might be pushing that back but for now it really works for us.
Audrey is in a little dance class. Every week James confidently walks up to the front to say hello to the {high school aged} teachers and beg for a name tag.
Hard to believe my little baby is a full-fledged toddler.
