two

Be still my heart.  This boy is two.

He embodies all it means to be two years old.  A constant flurry of motion and joy.

He runs and jumps and laughs.  The other day I contemplated taking him to the doctor because he woke up from his nap very fussy and I seriously wondered if something was wrong.  After a few minutes, a cup of milk and a firetruck video calmed him down.

The only places I can shop sanely in his presence are Target and HyVee and the occasional Sam's run because he can eat his way through the store. Otherwise he's on the go.  Not to be stopped by a shopping cart.

He enthusiastically points out any kind of vehicle within sight or earshot.  Airplane!  Copter!  Whee-oo!  Mail-mail! BUS!  Tractor!  All shouted in his own toddler-speak.

He loves his sisters "Autrey" and "Maya" and goes searching for them anytime they are away.  He also loves their stuff and their chewing gum and the girls have learned to keep their bedroom doors closed.

He's become a little blondie this summer.  A little surfer dude with bleached unruly wavy hair.

For 48 hours we lost his beloved blue monkey known affectionately as "Oo-oo-ah-ah".  We searched the house high and low.  We drove by a park that we visited to see if he'd fallen out of the van and remained at the side of the road.  James coped well and slept two naps and two nights without him, but requested him each time.  This morning the two were reunited, and it felt so good.  A little toddler someone had stuffed him in cubby in the bathroom bench.

If you ask him what his name is he proudly responds, "Bubba!"

Love you, Bubba.

  1. James is a very, very loving child who delights in talking with or seeing his "Nee Nee" (Granny). I transitioned Audrey over to Granny very quickly from "Nee Nee," but James (who can clearly say Grandma to his other grandmother) seems content with "Nee Nee." He is such a happy little boy who says as he falls down, "I okay." He can win my heart over very easily by putting his lower lip out when I leave (sad)... He always asks about me!!! He laughs out loud like an older child after saying something that he thinks is so funny. What an adorable little boy!!!
