Back in 2005 we took Alpha. We were placed in a small group with four other young couples. The Alpha Course was great (highly, highly recommend it) and our small group decided to stay together.
We agreed to meet every Tuesday, eat supper together, study God's word, pray together and have some dessert. We continued on that course for quite awhile. Meeting weekly and learning a lot. We became great friends and shared our lives together. The good times and the bad times. New jobs and lost jobs. We laughed together a lot. Cried together some, too. We lived life in community as best we could.
Over the years our group grew in number and added many new little feet. By the time we had six kids between us, we had cut out dinner (for as many as SIXTEEN mouths!!) and incorporated social nights, too. We always kept dessert. Duh -- always keep dessert. And our group is continuing to grow. We've got seven kiddos between us all now and two more on the way.
We're also going through a bit of a transition now. Our dear friends the Andersens are moving to Nashville this weekend. We are going to miss them. A lot. We'll miss their friendship and their laughter. Their generosity and their hospitality. Their adorable boys and their yummy desserts. I can't even say all the things that we'll miss.
But we also know that our God is a big God. A God who has big plans for them in this new phase of their life. We're excited for them and the new opportunities that are coming their way. And we'll continue to support them in any way we can and pray for them often. We know that they will touch the lives of many more people, in the same way that we have been blessed through knowing them. And they can't get rid of us that easily...we've never been to Nashville before. Possible small group road trip?
We'll miss you, Andersens. God bless.
