Take me out to the ball game...

Blastball.
The huddle.  Game one.  Coach used painter's tape to help remember their names.

It's basically T-ball with only one base and a bunch of four year olds.  Coach Darrin likens it to herding cats.

Madeline had her first game a few weeks ago.  She had fun.  Not much participation, just soaked it all in.  Her reflections after the game?  Nothing about the sport, just that the other two girls on her team are really nice and they both have pierced ears.

During the second week, her enthusiasm and participation increased.  She fielded the ball, hit the ball, actually ran to the base {not just walked there looking totally lost and confused :)}, and threw the ball to the coach at first base.  Still didn't want to give high fives to the "strangers" on the opposing team.  But we're getting there.

Waving to her adoring fans as she rounds first base.

Coach Darrin was out of town for week three and there was full, enthusiastic participation.  Running, jumping, dancing in the outfield.  Hitting the ball, throwing the ball, giving high fives.  Total adorable-ness.

I do have one tiny complaint.  It appears that all the teams are sponsored by Walmart.  Or at least that's what their shirts say.  I mean, really.  Parks and rec couldn't have found a few local businesses who would be willing to pay for tshirts?

Nah.  Let's make innocent four year olds walk around as human Walmart billboards instead.
