The Obligatory Halloween Post

Last year it took an hour for the neighborhood gang to make it around one block.  They took their time, had to be escorted to each door, needed prompting to ring the doorbell, and by the end of the night most had to be carried home.

Not this year.
"Woo hoo!  Candy!"

Trick-or-treating was met with great gusto.  The little buddies ran from door to door.  They ran so fast that I never really even got a picture.  Just their backsides running to the next basket of candy.

Madeline came home to sort and classify her candy into food groups with her very organized daddy -- choclates, chewies, sugars (no joke, she got FOUR Fun Dips at one house....uh, can you say garbage can?!?!) and hard-candy.  She counted them and arranged them in patterns by color.  She gets this from her father.

Not to be outdone when it comes to cuteness....ribbit.

And, yes, if you aren't from or don't live in Des Moines you wonder why we trick-or-treated last night.  We have this mysterious thing called Beggar's Night.  We trick-or-treat on October 30.  Strange, but true.
